Profile, Security & Referrals
Open the account menu from your avatar and choose Settings. The Account page contains three independent areas: Profile, Account, and Security.
Edit the public profile
Each field saves independently. Text is trimmed before saving, and clearing an optional field removes its current value.
| Field | Current rule |
|---|---|
| Display name | Up to 80 characters |
| Username | 3–20 lowercase letters and numbers only; must be available and not reserved |
| Website | A valid HTTP or HTTPS address; https:// is added when no scheme is entered |
| Location | Up to 80 characters |
| Bio | Up to 280 characters |
To update a field:
- Change its value.
- Select Save for that field. A single-line Save button appears only after the normalized value changes; Bio has its own Save button beside the counter.
- Wait for Saved before leaving the page.
Changing Display name does not change the registered email. Username is normalized to lowercase, and values such as reserved route names or a username already owned by another account are rejected.
Upload an avatar
Select the current avatar at the top of the page and choose a JPEG, PNG, WebP, or GIF file. The UI shows upload progress and then saves the uploaded object as the account avatar.
Avatar upload and text-field saves are separate actions. If the upload fails, keep the visible error; do not assume the preview image means the new avatar was saved. The account accepts only an avatar uploaded for the currently signed-in user.
Read the Account section
The Account section is informational:
- Invite code shows the account's referral code or Not available yet.
- Plan shows the current profile plan tier.
- Member since shows the account creation date.
When an invite code exists, use the copy button beside it. The copied value is a full invite link to the localized login page, including the referral code; it is not only the raw code.
The Settings page does not provide a control for replacing an invite code or attaching a different referrer after signup. Share your own copied invite link, but do not edit its ref value.
Verify the registered email
Security loads the current session and connected authentication accounts. It shows:
- the registered email and whether it is verified;
- whether Password is enabled;
- whether Google is connected;
- whether Email code is available.
If the email is unverified, select Verify once. The button changes to Sent after the request succeeds. Check the registered inbox and spam folder, and follow the newest valid message. The verification link returns to /profiles.
Email code is shown as available whenever the account has a registered email; it is not a display of a current code.
Change or add a password
The form changes according to the connected sign-in methods.
An account with Password enabled
- Enter the current password.
- Enter a new password with at least 8 characters.
- Enter the same value in Confirm new password.
- Select Change password.
On success, the password is updated and other sessions are revoked. The current session remains the place to confirm the result.
An account without a password
If the current authentication client supports adding credentials, the form shows Set a password without a Current password field. Enter the new value twice and select Set password. After success, Password changes to Enabled.
If the UI reports that setting a password is unavailable, or that a credential already exists, use the action described by that message rather than repeatedly submitting the same form.
Reset a forgotten password
- Open the login dialog and continue to the email sign-in form.
- Select Forgot password?.
- Enter the registered email and select Send Verification Code.
- Enter the newest code from that inbox.
- Enter the same new password twice. It must contain at least 8 characters.
- Select Set Password & Sign In.
The code and new password are entered in the same login dialog. If the code expires, use Resend and enter only the newest message. Accounts originally created with Google or email code can use the same flow to add a password when the login form recommends it.
Resolve common profile errors
| Message or state | Check |
|---|---|
| Username format error | Use only a–z and 0–9, with 3–20 characters |
| Username reserved or taken | Choose a different public username |
| Website URL invalid | Use an HTTP/HTTPS web address |
| Avatar type rejected | Re-export as JPEG, PNG, WebP, or GIF |
| Current password incorrect | Re-enter the existing password, or open the login dialog and select Forgot password? |
| Passwords do not match | Re-enter both new-password fields |
| Verification email not visible | Check the registered inbox, spam folder, and newest message |
Never send a password, email verification code, third-party sign-in credential, or full session details to support. For a persistent save problem, report the field name, visible validation text, approximate time, browser, and registered email using Contact Support.
